Here are some recent YouTube stats that put things into perspective and show just how massive it is in 2019.
YouTube Has Over 1.8 Billion Users
First, it’s important to understand the sheer size of YouTube. Business Insider reports that as of mid-2018, it had 1.8 billion users every month. That’s just barely less than what Facebook had at 2 billion users.
With nearly 7.7 billion people on the planet as of early 2019, it means nearly a quarter of the entire global population is a YouTube user.
If the primary goal of your legal marketing campaign is to reach a lot of people, it’s clear that YouTube is an excellent medium for doing that.
It’s the Number 2 Site in the World
According to Alexa’s list of the top 500 sites on the web, YouTube ranks number 2 and is only behind Google.
That’s an amazing statistic and shows just how dominant it has become.
It Receives Over 12 Percent of All Search Traffic
Alexa also reports that YouTube receives a staggering 12.3 percent of all search traffic. To put that into perspective, Facebook only receives 7.3 percent.
This means that YouTube marketing not only brings in traffic from YouTube directly but from search engines as well. And this makes sense considering that Google has owned YouTube since 2006.
Nearly 5 Billion Videos Are Viewed on YouTube Daily
What’s equally amazing is the insane amount of content that people consume on YouTube. MerchDope says that it receives over 30 million visitors per day, which translates into 5 billion videos being watched each day.
Needless to say, there’s plenty of demand for great video content — something your law firm can take advantage of.
It’s Google’s Most Popular Service
Business Insider also explains that YouTube is Google’s most popular service and has even more users than Gmail. And that’s pretty amazing given the success of Gmail and how it’s one of the world’s primary email providers.
It Reaches More 18-49 Year Olds Than Any Network or Broadcast (On Mobile Alone)
It’s no secret that traditional cable TV sales are declining. “Cord-cutting” is catching on quickly, with more and more people opting for streaming TV instead.
Fortune reports, “Charter Communications, which offers cable service under the Spectrum brand, announced that it lost 122,000 TV customers in the first quarter of 2018.”
What’s interesting is that more people between the ages of 18 and 49 now watch YouTube than any network or broadcast. And that’s just on mobile.
At the rate things are going, traditional cable will be a distant memory for many people in a few years. And this positions streaming providers like Netflix, Hulu and of course YouTube to dominate.

YouTube has experienced enormous success in recent years, with no signs of it slowing down any time soon. If video marketing is something that your law firm has considered but hasn’t gotten around to, 2019 is definitely the year to make it happen.
