It seems that it was only yesterday when Instagram was still considered as an up and comer in the social media realm. In fact, it’s only five years old as of mid-2016. But in just a short time, this image-centric social media site has risen to prominence and is almost always included in the discussion of the top networks. I would even make the case that it’s popularity is only behind the two behemoths that are Facebook and Twitter.
A recent infographic provides some interesting statistics that show the current state of this network and proves why your law firm should be on Instagram. Here are the highlights:
There are 500 Million+ Monthly Active Users and 300 Million+ Daily Active Users
That’s a lot of users. In fact, Instagram has more users than Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Snapchat and is only behind Facebook. The volume of users is of the utmost importance when deciding which social networks to devote your time to simply because the more users means the better opportunity you have to reach your target audience.
When you consider the fact that Instagram hasn’t been around as long as many of these other networks, it proves just how insanely popular it has become in only a short time.
Almost 30 Percent of the Total U.S. Population Uses Instagram
This statistic really puts thing into perspective and shows just how much this network has caught on. To be on Instagram theoretically gives you the opportunity to reach nearly a third of the entire U.S. population.
More Than Half of Millennials Use Instagram Every Day
If you’re target audience is fairly young, I can’t think of a better platform to use than Instagram. While networks like Facebook and Twitter make it possible to reach pretty much any age demographic, Instagram is ideal if your primary emphasis is reaching individuals under the age of 40.
There are 4.2 Billion Likes Daily
This shows the level of engagement that takes place on here. Users are actively following other users and responding with likes and comments. By creating an account and consistently updating it with fresh content, you can claim your slice of the pie.
Engagement Per Post Has Grown at a Rate of 53 Percent Year-over-Year
Quite frankly, your social media marketing campaign is only as good as your audience’s level of engagement. If your followers merely scan over your posts in their feed without engaging, it’s essentially useless. To me, this is one of the most important stats of all in this infographic. It shows that A) Instagram followers actively engage and B) this is a growing trend.
Part of the reason behind this level of engagement is simply due to the fact that Instagram consists completely of images. Because “90 percent of the information transmitted to the brain is visual,” the majority of posts on here receive some type of response.
If you’ve been on the fence about joining Instagram, it’s time to take the plunge. By examining just a few key stats, it’s clear to see that your law firm should be on Instagram and that it can yield big results.
