Visuals are an essential part of any well run legal marketing campaign. In fact, “Creating visual content was a top priority for 55 percent of B2C content creators in 2016.” Incorporating beautiful images into your content offers the eye appeal your audience is looking for and makes it more memorable.
According to studies, “When people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10 percent of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65 percent of the information three days later.”
But how do you go about creating custom images? And what if you have very limited design skills?
One of the best resources out there is Canva. Let’s talk about how you can use it to create stunning images for multiple aspects of your legal marketing campaign.
What is Canva?
“Canva is a free graphic design tool website, founded in 2012. It has an easy to use drag-and-drop interface and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts.” Besides the level of quality that it offers, it can be used by practically anyone. You don’t need to be a design expert or understand even an ounce of coding to use it. You can set up an account in minutes and begin creating designs on a plethora of different formats.
Types of Formats
At the very top of your dashboard, you’ll see a section called “Create a design.”
As you can see, there are several formats to choose from. You can create custom images for your social media accounts, blog posts, etc. But click on “More” and you’ll get even more options.
Here are just a few other examples.
But that’s just part of it. Scroll down further and you’ll see that the design options run the gamut. Whether you’re looking to create a header for your Twitter profile, an email header or an infographic, it’s all there. Each design is automatically pre-configured with the correct proportions so you get the exact size you need.
It’s really quite simple. Just click on the type of design you want to create. Let’s just use “Facebook Post” as an example. Here’s what you see by clicking on this.
Just choose an image or background that you like on the left-hand side. Then drag-and-drop it into the design area (the white box). You can also upload your own image if you’d like. From there, you can enter your own text, change the font, color, spacing, etc.
Once you’re done, just click on “Download” and you’re good to go. Rinse and repeat this same process for whatever type of design you’re looking to create moving forward. After you do it a few times, it becomes like second nature.
If you’re looking to create stunning images from scratch, Canva is one of the best tools you’ll find. It’s easy, it’s free (as long as you use certain templates) and it can really enhance your overall legal marketing. It’s particularly useful for blogging, social media and content marketing. This can help you improve your visuals and you won’t always have to use generic stock photos.
