You’re probably well aware of just how important it is to have your law firm listed on Google My Business. It makes you easier to find in Google search and is huge for building trust with prospective clients. If you’re not already on there, go ahead and get set up right now.
In the past, you could add some fairly robust media to your profile including photos of the interior and exterior of your law firm. Users can also get reviews, see where you’re located on Google Maps as well as see your building on street view. But there’s now an even greater feature that allows you to add video to Google My Business.
Let’s discuss the implications and how to take advantage of this feature.
On January 12, community manager of Google My Business, Allyson Wright posted the following information:
“We’ve officially launched videos in the Google My Business Photos Dashboard! Merchants can now view videos added by customers and upload videos about their the business for customers to view. We currently support videos up to 30 seconds in length.
How it works:
- Videos will appear in the overview tab of the Google My Business Dashboard
- Customer uploaded videos can be found in the ‘customer’ tab
- Merchant uploaded videos can be found in the ‘by owner’ tab
- All videos can be viewed together in the ‘videos’ tab
- After upload it could take up to 24 hours for the videos to appear. Once live, they will display where local photos do.”
An Amazing Opportunity
This is huge because it allows your law firm to take your Google presence to the next level. Don’t get me wrong. The existing info you could upload prior to this update was great. But including videos provides you with an effective means of “selling” your law firm to prospects that simply wasn’t possible in the past (at least not directly in Google SERPs anyway).
Although videos can only be a max of 30 seconds, this can still make a big impression on leads who are interested in your law firm and looking to learn a bit more about you. And as you may already know, video is arguably the fastest growing medium on the Internet and one of the most popular ways to digest content.
In fact, “four times as many customers would rather watch a video about a product than read about it, and four in five consumers believe that demo videos are helpful.”
