It’s Christmas Day, and in the spirit of the season, we’re going to forgo, for this one day, the usual marketing, SEO, blogging, social media stuff, and do a little something different with today’s post. In the tradition of the old “Christmas comedy special”, we’re going to have a few laughs today, or attempt to, anyway. So, pour a glass of eggnog, grab a few cookies, and settle in for the next few minutes. Remember, I’m only a social media and inbound marketing content creator. Wanda Sykes I’m not…..
Things marketers and attorneys have in common:
- We both think “a half day at work” means leaving at 5 o’clock.
- We routinely eat from vending machines and some of the finest restaurants in town, in the same week.
- We know the folks at the corner coffee shop better than the people across the hall or across the street.
- We get excited on Saturdays, as we can wear casual clothes to the office.
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. You go up to her and say, “Hi, I’m great in bed. Wanna give me a try?” – That’s Direct Marketing
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. You give a friend $20 to go up to her and say, “My friend over there is great in bed. Wanna give him a try?” – That’s Advertising
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. You get her number from the hostess, call her up and say, “Hi, I’m great in bed. Wanna give me a try?” – That’s Tele-Marketing
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. You get her Twitter and Facebook profiles. You send a friend request and a follow. You get to know her, her friends, her interests. You share great content and memes, make her Like or Favorite your posts on a daily basis for weeks, and then send her a private message that says, “Hi, I’m great in bed. Wanna give me a try?” – That’s Social Media Marketing
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. You stand straighter, play the perfect gentleman, smooth talking and soft spoken. You pull out her chair and open the door for her. You smile at her jokes and listen to her every word with intensity and sincerity. At the end of the night, you say to her, “I’m great in bed. Wanna give me a try?” – That’s a Call to Action
You go to a party and see an attractive girl across the room. She comes up to you and says, “I’ve heard you’re great in bed. Can I give you a try?” – And that is the power of Branding
The Power of Smart Marketing
A new young lawyer in town is proud as can be when he hangs out his shingle above an office on Main Street. A month later, however, he gets a bit worried when another lawyer hangs out his shingle above the office next door on the right. The next month, he is really concerned when a third lawyer takes up practice in the office on his left. The lawyer on the right begins marketing that he is the “Best Attorney in Town”. The one on the left starts advertising that he has the “Lowest Legal Fees in Town”. Our young fellow in the middle consults with a marketing professional. Then, taking the consultant’s advice, he hangs up a sign in his front window that simply says, “Main Entrance” and gets more clients than he can handle.
Everyone here at Best Legal Practices would like to wish all of you a very happy holiday season, whatever holiday you may celebrate, and a very joyful and productive New Year!
